Evidence: At the end of a novel unit(The Maze), they created books of their own as a class project. They were each assigned chapter(s) and had to draw a picture that represented the most important event in the chapter. Then they had to write a statement that clearly stated the main idea(s) of the chapter.
Also, for a class-generated ABC book they were assigned a letter in the alphabet and they had to connect the letter with a concept from the novel. They could do a main character, part of the setting, a symbol from the novel, a theme, or an object of significance in the story.
