High School - PreCalculus
Students travel the world to solve a crime.
Quality: Confident (Resourceful and Hardworking), Technology Literate, Effective Communicator (Problem Solver and Collaborator)
Evidence: Students reviewed exponential and logarithmic functions through a CSI mystery. They traveled the world (through google maps) to different scenes of the crime and solved a problem. The CSI mystery had 6 “scenes” which uncovered a mystery variable. These six mystery variables were used decode a cryptic text message and if everything was correct, the result matched one of the six suspects. Some puzzles had the students completing word problems with up to 5-6 parts to be completed correctly in a row with a variety of levels of difficulty. This required the students to work hard, use their resources, collaborate with each other, and discern the information in order to be successful.
